President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach said that in Sochi «all ready for the best in the history of the Olympics».
IOC President said that he and his colleagues visited the Olympic village and talked with the athletes. «We have no doubt that everything will be at the highest level», — said Bach. Thomas Bach also added that all Olympic sports facilities are modern, and their quality — very high.
The opening ceremony of the 2014 Olympics will be held on Friday, February 7, and will begin at 20:14 Moscow time. Olympic Games will be completed on February 23. Earlier, the Winter Olympics were not, neither Russia nor the USSR. In 1980, Moscow hosted the Summer Olympics.
