Squaw Valley
Today I want to share these images of Derek Jarman's garden. He created it near Dungeness power station, a place no one else wanted to live at. I love how it is nothing like a traditional garden and yet, still a place of great, quiet beauty. For those who don't know him: Derek Jarman was a talented artist and filmmaker who died of Aids in 1996. I still remember how much of an impression his movies, such as Caravaggio (with Tilda Swinton), made on me in the eighties. There was something entirely new about them. They were highly stylized, almost like paintings.
